It is not a new thing to wear branded clothes, accessories, shoes etc.
Nowadays, there has been a new trend emerged- branded people. I’m not talking about the brand-ambassadors of any company. I’m talking about the people in our circles who are dedicated to certain brands, as if they are paid for using that brand. Even the materialistic world of brand is tolerable but when the brand/the standard comes in one’s speech, actions and behaviour, it seems merciful.
One of my friend says to me ‘”I don’t feel comfortable in any branded clothes other than American Eagle.” I was thinking if he meant he has been wearing this brand by birth! because,these brands entered the Indian market very recently.
My another friend has instinct of gathering different things of one particular brand. One guy has a bad habit of asking about the brand of the every single thing he comes to know.
Yes, I agree, branded things have very high quality. But does it mean that the person who can not afford a 1500 bucks of shirt, must purchase it anyhow!
Sometimes I feel that it is better to purchase three shirts worth 500 bucks and likewise you have access to different shirts and don’t get fed up by the same shirt. It is not necessary to wear and use branded things only, some of the local manufacturers are worth giving a try but as being in a show off and competitive times, we don’t care to try any local brand. Why to use Bata when you see Reebok,Nike,Fila,Puma and the list is endless.
The situation is not that much bad also. One of my cousins has this attitude of using only the things which are comfortable not which are branded. Of course, he can afford any of the existing brands if he wants.
We are facing a great wind of consumerism, being more materialistic than we had ever been had. It is good sign that we can afford such brands,but these number of ‘we’ is handful when compared with the majority of the poor of the India.
So,now whenever you go to buy at a Reebok outlet, don’t neglect the local shop full of the consumers, give it a try, you may get the country’s taste.
